چکیده
Abstract Background Due to the lack of a sensitive, specific and rapid detection method, aetiological diagnosis pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae ( M. pneumoniae, MP ) is constantly challenging issue. This retrospective study aimed compare diagnostic methods for in children evaluate their values. Methods From November 2018 June 2019, 830 with community-acquired were selected from Department Respiratory Medicine, Shanghai Children’s Medical Center. On first day hospitalization, sputum, throat swab venous blood samples collected analyse MP-IgM (particle agglutination, PA), (immune colloidal gold technique, GICT), MP-DNA, MP-RNA (simultaneous amplification testing, SAT) MP-DNA (real-time polymerase chain reaction, RT-PCR). Results Among these children, RT-PCR showed that positive rate was 36.6% (304/830), which macrolide resistance (A2063G mutation) accounted 86.2% cases (262/304). Using as standard, (SAT) had highest specificity (97.5%), (PA) sensitivity (74.0%) Youden index (53.7%). If combined (PA), its Kappa value (0.602), (84.2%), (78.7%) (62.9%) higher than those single detection. Conclusions Our research indicated combination plus might lead reliable results an early method clinical manifestations pneumonia.

Background: Mycoplasma pneumoniae is one of the causes of upper and lower respiratory tract infections especially in children, and antibiotics affecting the cell wall do not affect this type of infection. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of Mycoplasma pneumoniae and macrolide resistance in children with community-acquired pneumonia in Kerman city. Methods: This cross-sectional study...

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is increasingly recognized as an important cause of community acquired pneumonia (CAP) in children. We determined the importance of M. pneumoniae as a causative agent in 170 children aged 1 month to 15 years who were hospitalized with CAP over a 6-month period. The diagnosis of M. pneumoniae infection was based on serological evidence obtained by a particle agglutination t...

BACKGROUND Although the prevalence of macrolide-resistant Mycoplasma pneumoniae isolates in Japanese pediatric patients has increased rapidly, there have been no reports concerning macrolide-resistant M. pneumoniae infection in adolescents aged 16 to 19 years old. The purpose of this study was to clarify the prevalence and clinical characteristics of macrolide-resistant M. pneumoniae in adolesc...
